NEW: Sire from Nerstane
We are happy to say we have negotiated the purchase of a new sire from Nerstane. His tag number is 231. He is a ram we have agreed to purchase after the Royal Sydney show. He is sired by Langdene 4073 (His grand sire is N43)and out of a ewe N 1066 by N222( her grand sire is N43). His most recent test is 18 um 3 Sd Cv 16.7 99.9 comfort. He won Champion – Fine Medium March Shorn Ram at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show and at Dubbo he was Reserve Champion – Fine Medium March Shorn Ram. Semen available by contacting Hamish McLaren on 0429 772 778. |
Coryule Merinos was founded in 2009 with the purchase of 60 stud ewes and a ram (N33) from the Nerstane Stud at the 2008 Australian Sheep Show. The Coryule sheep produce fine wool (averaging 18 microns) that is stylishly white and is grown on plainer bodied sheep that matures early.
In 2010, we added to the stud with the purchased a share of a semen sire and two rams. In 2011, we then purchased 120 cast for age stud ewes and another ram (Nerstane 779) at Hamilton Sheep Show. In 2013, we purchased another 120 cast for age Nerstane ewes. At the Borambil reduction sale, we also purchased 100 2-year old stud ewes and 55 1-year old ewes. The Borambil stud line is based on Nerstane/Roseville Park blood and has concentrated on these genetics for the past 15 years. We also purchased a Pemcaw ram at the Hamilton Sheep Show. This ram has the type of wool and skin we are trying to breed with the scale/size we hope to add to our sheep. |
In 2012 we set about to breed a poll sheep like our horned sheep. With the transfer of 50 horned ewes to the poll stud, these ewes were artificially inseminated with top Alfoxton semen and a further 20 Alfoxton embryos were purchased. At the 2012 and 2013 Alfoxton on property sales we also purchased rams.
In 2013, we added to our Poll Stud. We purchased a poll ram (number 54) from Roseville Park. This ram was specifically selected for his stylish white wool on a long body with great bone and balance. 2016 we have added two poll rams to the stud, one from Rogara Poll he tests 17.3 microns, SD 2.9, CV 16.8 and 99.9 comfort factor, this ram has the type of wool we would like to be breeding on a very good frame. As well a Borambil Poll ram by PB 0054 he tests 18.2 microns, SD 3.1, CV 17 and comfort factor of 99.3 this ram has the make and shape we are looking for. We have used PB 54 through AI last year with some very interesting ram available this year at our sale and part of our 2017 show team. Both these rams carry the double poll gene. |
